1 Description It occurs as white crystals, scales, or needles.
2 Identification
Test (A)
(A) i) A salmon-colored precipitate is formed.
ii) A white precipitate forms in 10 min. This precipitate is soluble in ether.
3 Solubility It is freely soluble in alcohol, in chloroform and in ether; slightly soluble in water.
4 Residue on Ignition Not more than 0.05%.
5 Congealing Temperature Between 121°C–123°C.
6 Water determination Not more than 0.7%.
7 Readily Carbonizable substances The solution has no more color than Matching Fluid Q.
8 Readily Oxidisable substances Not more than 0.50 mL of 0.10 N potassium permanganate is consumed.
9 Assay Not less than 99.5% and not more than 100.5% on the anhydrous basis.

PACKAGING

MOLBEN® ACID is packed in HDPE bag or HDPE drum with double PE liners inside having bar-coded label and tamper-evident seal.

 SHELF LIFE, STORAGE AND PACKING

The shelf life is 3 years. Preserve in well-closed containers.
